Please read the BMC participant statement:
The BMC recognises that climbing, hill walking and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions.
The Route Cards are recommendations only, all participants are responsible for their own safety and actions. They should check access and restrictions to crags before visiting and use local guide books to source information on the area they intend to climb at.
Please see guidelines below:
- Check information regarding access and conservation, which can be found via The BMC and The Fell & Rock Climbing Club.
- Check the latest access advice for cliffs the Lake District including bird restrictions via the Regional Access Database.
- Participants are recommended to use the local guide books for definitive information. Guide books are available from: FRCC & BMC.
- It is important to remember that some routes may be over grown and cleaning should be confined to the actual line of the route. Only remove vegetation that encroaches on the line of the route as excessive cleaning could destruct of any rare species of plant that may be hidden away to the sides of these routes. It is a good idea to have a read through this before climbing any overgrown routes.
