Why join the Big Mountain Weekend?

We’ve noticed alot of names we recognise from last year booking on again this year. So we got intouch with James who did the ‘Introduction to trad climbing’ at last years event and was purely a boulderer before this. He’s back again this year, booked onto the ‘Multi pitch rock climbing’ as the next step up and even hoping to join his local Mountain Rescue to further his skill set. Happy to have you back James.
“After having a great time at last years Big Mountain Weekend we decided to come back for another year, and this time bring some friends along. Prior to last years weekend we were strictly boulderers, the beginning trad clinics were our first introductory to any form of roped climbing. We found the coaching to be excellent and gave us enough information to safely expand on the knowledge by ourselves. This year I have booked on the multi-pitch clinic to expand on the skills I learnt last year. Because of the information I learnt last year I have approached mountain rescue in the hope of becoming a volunteer and gain further training in fell rescue. One of the stand out things for us about the weekend was the relaxed environment and the scenery of Langdale. We loved how close everything was the a really good national trust campsite. The beer garden at the stickle barn provided a great base for the weekend, there was no pressure to spend money or buy any gear, but there was plenty of information and the staff from Arc’teryx, DMM and The Sticklebarn were super friendly.”
